In-Class Reflections
Inspiration: Guillaume Amat
This will influence my final mirror assignment because of the constancy of the mirror and it's placement. It creates a simple, yet pleasing feeling when looking at all of the images together. I hope that I use one mirror in the same position for my assignment and achieve the same sense of unity seen throughout.
Photo Series: Reflection
What photographer/artist most influenced your photos? Guillaume Amat inspired my photo series (see above).
What was your location and setting for your photos? The courtyard at school.
How did you use positioning of the mirror and camera to create your compositions? I used the mirror to show a contrast in color, or even to add images/reflections that were not in that field of view.
Were you able to create anything unexpected in your reflection? I was able to recreate flowers or leaves that weren't originally visible in the shot.
How does your setting contrast with the rest of your image? The colors contrast with what's shown in the mirrors. The mirrors are usually light, and airy images of the clouds, whereas the surrounding area's are dark greenery and vibrant flowers.
How would you describe your photos: unexpected? evocative? confusing? playful? Funny? surreal? I feel as though my photos are evocative.
What idea/concept are your reflection photos about? My photos are collectively about hope, and working towards a goal that may not be in reach at the moment, but with time could be.
Were you able to blur the line between illusion and reality? Only in some images did I blur the line between illusion and reality, because I wanted the mirrors to be a key component (that was visible) in my photos.
