I explored emotion as a theme in my series. The fourth photo and the last photo exemplify this theme the most. Both photos, using the positioning of the subjects, and the setting around them, allow the viewer to feel what the person being photographed is feeling. The last photograph was taken approximately 10 feet away from the subject, and was taken at eye level to place the viewer in the setting. Surrounding the subject, other people are blurred, but visible. This creates a nice visible foreground, middle ground, and background, and draws the viewers eye straight two the focal point of the image. The positioning of the other people in the photo also allow the viewer to feel as though they are present and this is what they're seeing real time.
Quote: I think that my most successful pictures encapsulate a story within one frame that works on many different levels.
I feel as though this works for my fourth photograph the most. The little girl is positioned as though she so desperately want to skate with everyone else, but can't for whatever reason. Her arms and her head leaning on the wall just exemplifies her yearning to be with the other kids on the ice in the purest form without the viewer even seeing her face. Because you can't see her face in the frame though, you can't truly know how she's feeling or why she's watching the other skaters. Seeing as though you don't know how she's feeling you must guess in order to pull a story from the frame... but everyone could find a different story layered within one photograph.
